R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) Training: 

Saturday & Sunday Feb 22nd- 23rd AND April 25th- 26th 12:00 - 6:00 PM

“The University of Washington Police Department (UWPD) offers free classes, training women in Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.). R.A.D. is a simple yet effective program of self-defense designed for women on university and college campuses. The program teaches awareness, risk reduction, and realistic self-defense movements which do not require special skills, years of practice or any particular level of fitness.” http://police.uw.edu/services/rad/

Addressing Discrimination and Harassment (PSH00):
A two hour training that explores the role all employees have in creating and maintaining inclusive work and learning environments that are free from discrimination or harassment in any form.

Workplace Violence Prevention Training:
A 90 minute in person training via SafeCampus to learn about behaviors of concern, UW prohibited behaviors and response options. The training includes a discussion of relationship violence, stalking and suicide, and a brief portion on responding to an active shooter

  • Feb 12th 1:00 PM at University Of Washington Tower Building C (UWTC)
  • Mar 5th2:00 PM at Magnuson Health Sciences Center A (HSA)

Back Safety & Injury Prevention- Online:
A 20 minute online course for employees who lift 20 or more pounds, lift objects of any weight higher than three feet, push or pull objects regularly, or complete other repetitive motions that may lead to back injury.

Fire Extinguisher Training:
An hour and 30 minute course for all employees who want to learn how to use a portable fire extinguisher. Please alert evacuation director if you plan on taking this training at schatzd@uw.edu.
