MSW Extended Degree Program

The Master of Social Work Extended Degree Program (MSW EDP) is designed for busy people who are seeking to gain the skills, practical experience, and professional network needed to advance their careers.

Our program offers

  • A challenging educational experience taught by award-winning faculty
  • A cohort of peers that you can study and network with
  • An opportunity to develop specialized skills  in Multigenerational Practice with Children, Families, and Elders or Integrative Health and Mental Health Practice
  • A schedule designed to help you meet your work and life commitments

Our part-time curriculum spans 9-11 quarters, including summers, with select courses offered during the evening or on the weekends (Friday and Saturday). All courses are held on the UW Seattle campus. Many EDP students continue working throughout the program, reducing their work hours as needed to meet  course and practicum requirements.

The MSW Extended Degree Program is fee-based and administered through UW Professional & Continuing Education. Students pay for each credit of the required 75-credit program. Because the program is fee-based, students cannot transfer from the Extended Degree Program to the Day Program.

Full range of campus and School resources is available to students during regular business hours. The tuition structure for the Day Program is explained in the "Residency, Tuition, and Fees” section.

Please note that the EDP concentration choices, course sequencing, and schedule options may vary from year to year.
