To qualify for WSW-funded financial support, participating students must complete their field-education placements at an approved LEA. Please view the approved list here.

There are three eligibility requirements for an LEA. The site and program must be:

  1. Located in Washington state.
  2. Meet the criteria for high-need LEA as defined in the Federal Registry. (See below.)
  3. Committed to implementing school mental health through a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), such as Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) or Interconnected System Framework (ISF), or the site is working on a plan to do so.

A high-need LEA refers to a local educational agency that:

  • Serves children of whom at least 20 % are from low-income backgrounds.
  • Serves at least 10,000 children from low-income backgrounds.

  • Has a high ratio of students to qualified mental-health services providers as compared to other LEAs statewide or nationally.
